How do I 3D Print/ Laser Cut/Resin Print something in the CT Labs?

Follow these steps to 3D Print:

  1. Find a Student Assistant and tell them you want to print.
  2. The Student Assistant will hand over a USB Drive, move your files to the USB Drive. Note that for 3D printing we only accept: 3MF, STL, STEP, OBJ, AMF. STL is our preferred format.
    1. If you would like to print multiple things, the assistant will hand you a form where you can fill in your name and all your prints with which colours they should be.
  3. After this simply select the colour of filament you would like, and our assistants will handle the rest.
  4. Once the prints are done, they will be available on the grey shelf next to the Maker Space entrance for pick up!

Follow these steps to Laser Cut:

  1. Find a Student Assistant and tell them what you want cut.
  2. Send the files over to the Assistant via a USB Drive or email. Note that for Laser Cuts we only accept: Vector Files (.SVG, .AI) and PDF.
  3. Give more details about the cut, if there are parts you’d like to engrave, mention that as well.
  4. After this select whether you’d like to cut Acrylic or Wood.
    1. If you select Acrylic, then you must communicate the colour you want it to be.
    2. If you choose wood, then decide the thickness of the wood. We offer 3mm,4mm and 6mm. Note that the recommended thickness for most projects is 3mm, only go higher if necessary.
  5. And that’s all! The lovely assistants will handle the rest, once it is done you will find your cut in the grey shelf next to the entrance.

Follow these steps to Resin Print:

  1. Ask yourself whether you can achieve what you want via 3D Printing or other methods, Resin Printing is usually advised for something with a lot of detail that needs to be included.
  2. Approach an assistant and tell them what you want to print.
  3. Send the files over to the Assistant via a USB Drive or email. Note that for Resin Prints we only accept: .STL and .OBJ
  4. Select what material you’d like the print to be made in.
  5. And that’s all! Once your print is completed and cured you will find it in the grey shelf next to the entrance for pick up!

Still confused? No worries, just approach one of our assistants in person or ask them on our discord and they’ll guide you through the process. Confused about the print? Our Assistants can help you figure out another way to achieve the results you’d like to.
